Categories     main-dish

Time 2h55m

Yield 4 to 6 servings

Number Of Ingredients 24

1 whole bone-in, skin-on chicken breast
Olive oil
Kosher salt and freshly ground black pepper
1 tablespoon olive oil
2 cloves garlic, minced
1 tablespoon tomato paste
2 cups tomato puree
1 1/2 tablespoons mild chili powder
2 teaspoons Hungarian paprika
2 teaspoons ground cumin
1/4 teaspoon Mexican oregano
Kosher salt and freshly ground black pepper
2 tablespoons olive oil
1/2 red bell pepper, thinly sliced
1/2 orange bell pepper, thinly sliced
1/2 green bell pepper, thinly sliced
1/2 red onion, sliced
2 cloves garlic, minced
Kosher salt and freshly ground black pepper
Assembly:
1 (16-ounce) pizza ball, store-bought or homemade
1/2 cup shredded mozzarella cheese
1/2 cup shredded Cheddar
Special Equipment: pizza stone

Steps:

  • Chicken:
  • Preheat the oven to 350 degrees F.
  • Put the chicken breast on a baking sheet. Drizzle with olive oil and season with salt and pepper, to taste. Put in the oven and roast until cooked through, about 35 minutes. Remove the chicken from the oven to a cutting board and let cool. Once cool enough to handle, shred the chicken meat with a fork and set aside. Cook's Note: Can be done the day before.
  • Turn the oven temperature up to 400 degrees F.
  • Put a pizza stone in the oven to preheat for 1 hour, for best results. Remove the pizza dough from refrigerator and let come to room temperature, so it will be easier to work with.
  • Heat a medium saucepan over medium-high heat and coat the bottom with the olive oil. Once hot, add the garlic and saute until fragrant. Add the tomato paste and stir to toast. This will add depth of flavor. Stir in the tomato puree, chili powder, paprika, cumin, and oregano and bring up to a simmer. Cook for 10 minutes, stirring occasionally, for the flavors to marry together. Season, to taste, with salt and pepper.
  • Thinly coat a large saute pan with olive oil and heat over a medium-high heat. When the oil is hot, add the peppers, onion and garlic. Saute until the onions are translucent, about 4 to 5 minutes, stirring occasionally. Season with salt and pepper, to taste. Remove and set aside.
  • To assemble:
  • Flour the counter top and roll out the pizza dough to a 13-inch diameter. Carefully remove the pizza stone from the oven and put the dough on top. Ladle on the tomato sauce to lightly cover the bottom of the pizza. Sprinkle with the chicken, vegetables, and the cheeses.
  • Bake the pizza until crisp and golden, about 20 minutes. Remove from the oven, then slice and serve.

FAJITA PIZZA

Fajita Pizza image

This fajita seasoning is amazing. I use it on almost everything now. This pizza is delicious and spicy and just plain wonderful. Can be served with sour cream and/or extra salsa for dipping. The cayenne makes the seasoning hot, as does the black pepper, so take care if spicy food is not your thing.

CHICKEN FAJITA PIZZA

Chicken Fajita Pizza image

I can't remember where I got this recipe but I do know I've used it for years and it's really good. It's a wonderful change of pizza ingredients beside hamburger and cheese. I make this around our holiday pizza making days. I hope you all give it a try. It's really good!!

Provided by Connie Deitz

Categories     Pizza

Time 1h15m

Number Of Ingredients 11

1 can(s) pizza dough or make your own.
1 Tbsp vegtable oil- or whatever oil you choose
2 chicken breasts-cut into bite sized pieces
1-2 tsp chili powder- spice to your prefrence
1/2 tsp salt
large thinly sliced onion
1 small green peper thinly sliced
1 small red pepper-thinly sliced
1 small yellow pepper-thinly sliced
1/2 c salsa
1 c mozzerella cheese or monterary jack

Steps:

  • 1. Heat oven 425. Grease pizza pan and then spread the dough. Bake 7-9 mins- very light golden brown. remove from oven, start your chicken.
  • 2. Heat oil in large saucepan over med heat. Add cut up chicken and sprinkle the seasonings over the chicken. Cook 3-5 minutes- add sliced onion and the sliced peppers. Continue cooking until their is no more pink on the chicken 2-3 minutes more.
  • 3. Spoon the chicken mixture on top of the partially baked pizza crust. And then spoon the salsa over the mixture. Can use 1/4 cup more salsa if you want to. Sprinkle with the shredded cheese.
  • 4. Bake 14-18 minutes or until the crust is a golden brown. Remove from oven, cool 3-5 minutes, cut and eat.

Tips:

  • Use fresh, high-quality ingredients. Fresh vegetables, flavorful cheese, and tender chicken or steak will make all the difference in the taste of your fajita pizza.
  • Don't be afraid to experiment with different toppings. In addition to the traditional fajita toppings of bell peppers, onions, and chicken, you can also add other vegetables like zucchini, mushrooms, or corn. You can also try different types of cheese, such as Monterey Jack or pepper Jack. And, of course, you can always add your favorite fajita seasonings.
  • Make sure the pizza crust is cooked through before adding the toppings. Otherwise, the toppings will not cook evenly and the pizza will be soggy.
  • Don't overload the pizza with toppings. Too many toppings will make the pizza difficult to cook and eat.
  • Serve the pizza immediately after it is cooked. This will ensure that the pizza is hot and crispy.

Conclusion:

Fajita pizza is a delicious and easy-to-make meal that is perfect for any occasion. With its flavorful toppings and crispy crust, it is sure to be a hit with everyone. So next time you are looking for a quick and easy meal, give fajita pizza a try.
