Steps:
- Preheat the oven to 400°F or 200°C. Unroll the puff pastry and lay it on a flat baking sheet. Bake in the center of the preheated oven for 12 minutes, until golden and puffed. Turn the oven temperature up to 425°F or 220°C.
- When the pastry has cooled slightly, roughly chop it and arrange it in a baking dish with the raisins and nuts. Pour the milk, cream, and sugar into a saucepan and bring to a simmer. As soon as the mixture starts to bubble, remove from the heat and stir in the rose water. Pour the mixture over the pastry, raisins and nuts. Sprinkle the cinnamon over the top and place in the center of the hot oven.
- Bake for 22-25 minutes, until golden and bubbling. Serve warm.
Tips:
- Use stale bread for a better texture. If you don't have stale bread, you can toast fresh bread in the oven until it's dry.
- Soak the bread in milk or cream for at least 30 minutes before baking. This will help the bread absorb the liquid and become soft and tender.
- Add your favorite spices, fruits, or nuts to the bread pudding for a customized flavor. Some popular additions include cinnamon, nutmeg, raisins, cranberries, walnuts, and almonds.
- Bake the bread pudding in a water bath. This will help prevent the pudding from drying out and will also create a creamy custard-like texture.
- Serve the bread pudding warm with a dollop of whipped cream or ice cream.
Conclusion:
Egyptian bread pudding is a delicious and easy-to-make dessert that is perfect for any occasion. With its rich flavor and creamy texture, this pudding is sure to be a hit with everyone who tries it. So next time you're looking for a special dessert, give Egyptian bread pudding a try. You won't be disappointed!
