EASY HAMBURGER PIE

Categories     Savory Pies

Time 45m

Number Of Ingredients 8

1 1/4 lb hamburger
1 medium onion (chopped)
1/4 tsp garlic salt
1/2 tsp pepper
1 can(s) green beans or corn (drained)
1 can(s) tomato or vegetable soup
2 c precooked or leftover mashed potatoes
3/4-1 c shredded cheddar or mozzarella cheese

Steps:

  • 1. heat oven 350 degrees. Lightly grease a 2 quart casserole dish and set aside.
  • 2. Brown the hamburger with the chopped onions. Drain and season with seasonings.
  • 3. Add the drained green beans or corn and the soup. Pour this mixture into the prepared casserole dish.
  • 4. Spoon the mashed potatoes over the top then sprinkle with the cheese.
  • 5. Bake, uncovered, for about 30-35 minutes or until mixture is bubbly and cheese begins to brown.

Tips:

  • For a crispy crust, pre-bake the pie crust before filling it.
  • To prevent the filling from becoming too watery, drain off any excess grease from the hamburger before adding it to the pie.
  • For a more flavorful filling, brown the hamburger with onions, garlic, and other seasonings before adding it to the pie.
  • To make the pie ahead of time, assemble it and then freeze it unbaked. When ready to serve, thaw the pie overnight in the refrigerator and then bake it according to the recipe instructions.
  • Serve the pie with your favorite sides, such as mashed potatoes, green beans, or a salad.

Conclusion:

Hamburger pie is a classic comfort food that is easy to make and loved by people of all ages. With its simple ingredients and delicious flavor, it's a perfect meal for a weeknight dinner or a potluck. So next time you're looking for a hearty and satisfying meal, give hamburger pie a try.
