EASIEST BEST FUDGE FROSTING

Easiest Best Fudge Frosting image

I found this recipe years ago, and it got rave reviews, but I lost it and have looked for it ever since. Only 3 ingredients, VERY simple, and it generously frosts a 13 X 9 pan of brownies or Cake. Works best when slightly warm. I usually use it on brownies, (but usually have a little left for on top of ice cream)....Feel free to experiment....You can use semi sweet, dark, or milk chocolate, and you can garnish the top with nuts etc, but move quickly before it sets up all the way and your garnish won't "stick". Onr try and you will be hooked on the simplicity and the great flavor!

CHOCOLATE FUDGE ICING

Chocolate fudge icing image

Use this easy chocolate buttercream recipe for rich and smooth icing every time - ideal for finishing birthday, celebration or party cakes

Provided by Cassie Best

Categories     Afternoon tea, Dessert, Treat

Time 25m

Yield Covers 1 x 20cm sponge cake (serves 12)

Number Of Ingredients 5

100g milk chocolate, chopped into small pieces
200g slightly salted butter, softened
400g icing sugar, sieved
4 tbsp cocoa powder
2 tbsp milk

Steps:

  • Put the chocolate in a heatproof bowl, suspended over a pan of barely simmering water. Stir every now and then until melted. (Alternatively, melt in the microwave, stirring the chocolate every 20 secs so it doesn't burn.)
  • Remove the bowl from the heat and leave to cool a little. Meanwhile, put the butter and icing sugar in another large bowl and mash with a spatula to combine (this will prevent you covering the work surface in icing sugar), then whisk with a hand mixer until smooth.
  • Sift in the cocoa and pour in the melted chocolate and milk, then mix again until smooth, and use to ice your chosen cake immediately. Will keep in the fridge for up to a week, but remove an hour before using to bring it back to room temperature, and beat well.

EASY CHOCOLATE FUDGE FROSTING

Easy Chocolate Fudge Frosting image

I got this recipe from a bowling partner several years ago when I discovered I was out of powdered sugar and asked her for a frosting recipe I could put on "One Pot Brownies" that didn't call for powdered sugar. I don't know where this recipe originated as she recited it to me from memory. It's a snap to make and goes good on brownies, cake, cookies-just about any product calling for frosting.

Provided by Laudee

Categories     Dessert

Time 11m

Yield 4-6 serving(s)

Number Of Ingredients 4

6 tablespoons butter or 6 tablespoons margarine
6 tablespoons milk
1 1/2 cups white sugar
1/2 cup chocolate chips

Steps:

  • In a small saucepan, place butter or margarine, milk, and sugar and stir to blend over medium heat on top of stove.
  • Bring mixture to a boil which can't be stirred down.
  • Boil and stir for 45-60 seconds.
  • Remove pan from stove.
  • Add chocolate chips to mixture and stir until smooth.
  • Pour immediately on brownies or cake and let cool.

Tips:

  • Use the right chocolate: Use good quality semisweet chocolate for a rich, flavorful icing. You can also use bittersweet chocolate for a more intense flavor, or milk chocolate for a sweeter icing.
  • Don't overheat the chocolate: Overheating the chocolate can cause it to seize and become grainy. Be careful not to let it get too hot, and stir it constantly while melting.
  • Use fresh cream: Fresh cream will give your icing a smooth, creamy texture. Avoid using ultra-pasteurized cream, as it can make the icing grainy.
  • Beat the icing until it's thick and fluffy: Beating the icing until it's thick and fluffy will help it hold its shape and spread easily. Beat it for at least 5 minutes, or until it reaches the desired consistency.
  • Let the icing cool slightly before using: This will help it to thicken and set properly. Let it cool for about 5 minutes before spreading it on your cake or cupcakes.

Conclusion:

Fudge icing is a delicious, easy-to-make icing that's perfect for cakes, cupcakes, and other desserts. With just a few simple ingredients, you can create a rich, creamy icing that will add a touch of decadence to any dessert. So next time you're looking for an easy and delicious way to top your favorite dessert, give fudge icing a try.
