CROCK-POT MEATBALLS IN BROWN GRAVY

Crock-Pot Meatballs in Brown Gravy image

These are baked meatballs that are simmered in a brown gravy in a crockpot. Served with mashed potatos and peas is the way we like to eat them. I don't know the actual ounce size of the gravy packets, but I was asked to type something to clarify it. The packets make 1 cup, so I think you'll be able to figure out what I mean. :)

Tips:

  • Choose the right meatballs: If you're short on time, you can use pre-made meatballs. However, if you have the time, making your own meatballs is definitely worth the effort. You can control the ingredients and the flavor, and you can make them as big or small as you like.
  • Brown the meatballs before cooking them in the slow cooker: This will help to seal in the flavor and prevent the meatballs from becoming dry. You can brown the meatballs in a skillet over medium heat or in the oven at 400 degrees Fahrenheit for about 15 minutes.
  • Use a good quality gravy mix: The gravy is an important part of this dish, so it's worth spending a little extra money on a good quality mix. Look for a mix that is made with real ingredients and that doesn't contain any artificial flavors or colors.
  • Don't overcook the meatballs: The meatballs should be cooked through, but they shouldn't be overcooked. Overcooked meatballs will be tough and dry. Cook the meatballs on low for 6-8 hours or on high for 3-4 hours.
  • Serve the meatballs and gravy over mashed potatoes, rice, or noodles: This dish is traditionally served over mashed potatoes, but it can also be served over rice or noodles. The gravy is also great for dipping bread.

Conclusion:

This easy crockpot meatballs and gravy recipe is a delicious and hearty meal that can be made with just a few simple ingredients. The meatballs are tender and flavorful, and the gravy is rich and savory. This dish is perfect for a weeknight meal or a casual party. It's also a great way to use up leftover meatballs.
