Tips for Making Caramel Apple Bars:

  • Use Granny Smith apples, as they hold their shape well when baked and have a tart flavor that complements the caramel.
  • Slice the apples thinly and evenly so that they cook evenly.
  • Do not overmix the batter, as this can result in tough bars.
  • Bake the bars until the edges are golden brown and a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean.
  • Allow the bars to cool completely before cutting and serving, as this will help them to set properly.
  • Serve the bars with a dollop of whipped cream or vanilla ice cream for an extra special treat.
