EASY BROILED ASPARAGUS

Easy Broiled Asparagus image

I really didn't enjoy eating vegetables as a kid. When I moved to Stockton, California I discovered the wonderful taste of asparagus. Every April over 30,000 people flood into Stockton for the annual Asparagus Festival, with good reason. It's really a delicious vegetable that goes so well with everything (fish, meat, chicken). This is my favorite way of preparing asparagus. It's easy, quick and simple. And it's yummy!

Tips:

  • Choose the right asparagus: Look for asparagus spears that are bright green in color and have tightly closed tips. Avoid spears that are limp, wilted, or have yellow or brown spots.
  • Trim the asparagus: Use a sharp knife to trim the tough ends off the asparagus spears. The amount you need to trim will vary depending on the thickness of the spears.
  • Wash the asparagus: Rinse the asparagus spears under cold water to remove any dirt or debris.
  • Dry the asparagus: Use a paper towel to pat the asparagus spears dry. This will help them to cook evenly.
  • Season the asparagus: Drizzle the asparagus spears with olive oil and season with salt and pepper. You can also add other seasonings, such as garlic powder, onion powder, or paprika.
  • Broil the asparagus: Preheat your broiler to high. Place the asparagus spears on a baking sheet in a single layer. Broil the asparagus for 3-5 minutes, or until the spears are tender and slightly charred.
