Tips for the Easiest Crispy Jacket Baked Potato:

  • Choose the right potatoes: For the crispiest jacket potatoes, select large, evenly-shaped baking potatoes such as Russet or Maris Piper varieties.
  • Scrub the potatoes thoroughly: Scrub the potatoes with a vegetable brush to remove any dirt or debris.
  • Don't wrap the potatoes in foil: Wrapping the potatoes in foil prevents the skin from becoming crispy.
  • Pierce the potatoes: Use a fork to pierce the potatoes several times before baking. This helps the steam to escape and prevents the potatoes from bursting.
  • Bake at a high temperature: Bake the potatoes at a high temperature (200°C or 400°F) for the first half of the cooking time. This will help to crisp up the skin.
  • Reduce the temperature: After the first half of the cooking time, reduce the temperature to 180°C or 350°F. This will help to cook the potatoes through without overcooking them.
  • Cook until the potatoes are tender: Use a fork to check if the potatoes are tender. They should be easy to pierce and should offer little resistance.

Conclusion:

Crispy jacket baked potatoes are a delicious and versatile side dish that can be enjoyed with a variety of meals. By following these tips, you can easily make the perfect crispy jacket baked potato every time. Enjoy your crispy and delicious baked potatoes!
