Categories     Easy Side Dishes

Time 4h10m

Number Of Ingredients 6

4 cups water
6 oz Orange Jello Mix
3 ounce instant vanilla pudding
11 ounce can Mandarin oranges, drained
1/2 of a 20 ounce can of Pineapple chunks, drained
One 8 ounce container cool whip

Steps:

  • Mix together 4 cups of water, orange jello mix, and vanilla pudding mix in a sauce pan. Bring to a boil, stirring the whole time to keep clumps from forming. Once it starts to boil, remove from heat. Pour into a heat-resistant container (I usually use a glass baking dish), cover with plastic wrap and place in the fridge for about four hours. Remove from fridge and break up the jello into chunks. Place in a large bowl. Add in the pineapple, mandarin oranges, and whipped cream and mix around until everything is combined. Keep refrigerated until you are ready to serve.

Time 1h15m

Yield 6 serving(s)

Number Of Ingredients 8

1 (3 ounce) box orange Jell-O
1/2 cup pineapple juice
1/2 cup boiling water
1 (3 1/2 ounce) box instant vanilla pudding or 1 (3 1/2 ounce) box instant lemon pudding
1 cup milk
1 (8 ounce) container Cool Whip
1 can drained crushed pineapple
1 can mandarin orange

Steps:

  • Add pineapple juice and boiling water to Jello.
  • Mix milk with pudding and whip until thick.
  • Mix Jello and pudding mixtures together and beat slowly, add pineapple, chill 1 hour.
  • Add Cool Whip and oranges on top.

Tips:

  • Be sure to use fresh oranges for the best flavor. Clementines or tangerines can be substituted if oranges are not available.
  • If you don't have a citrus juicer, you can use a blender to juice the oranges. Simply remove the peel and seeds from the oranges, then blend until smooth.
  • For a smoother jello, strain the orange juice before adding it to the gelatin mixture.
  • If you want a firmer jello, increase the amount of gelatin by 1/4 cup. Conversely, if you want a softer jello, decrease the amount of gelatin by 1/4 cup.
  • To make individual servings of jello, pour the mixture into small molds or ramekins. Alternatively, you can pour the mixture into a large mold and cut it into squares or slices once it has set.
  • Serve the jello chilled with whipped cream, fresh fruit, or a dollop of yogurt.

Conclusion:

Dixie's Orange Jello is a classic Southern dessert that is easy to make and always a hit with family and friends. With its bright orange color and refreshing citrus flavor, it's the perfect dessert for any occasion. Whether you serve it as a simple snack or dress it up with whipped cream and fresh fruit, Dixie's Orange Jello is sure to be a crowd-pleaser.
