SLOW COOKER BABY BACK RIBS

Slow Cooker Baby Back Ribs image

These are the best I've had, short of the actual grilling method of course! This is a very simple recipe that I came up with a few years ago. It's not rocket science, just ribs cooked in the slow cooker and finished in the oven. This is what I do when I want ribs during the week and have to work all day. I'm eating them within a half-hour of getting home, and they turn out perfect every time!

Categories     Meat

Time 7h10m

Yield 5 serving(s)

Number Of Ingredients 9

3/4 teaspoon black pepper
3/4 teaspoon white pepper
1/2 teaspoon cayenne pepper
1 teaspoon ground cumin
1/3 cup brown sugar
1 tablespoon paprika
1 1/2 teaspoons salt
4 lbs beef ribs
0.75 (16 ounce) bottle barbecue sauce

Steps:

  • Combine rub ingredients mixing well.
  • Rub on all sides of ribs.
  • Place ribs meaty side up in crock pot.
  • Cover; cook on low for 6 hours.
  • Drain the grease from the crock.
  • Place the ribs back in and cover with bbq sauce.
  • Cook for another hour.

Tips:

  • Choose the right ribs: For the best results, select meaty pork ribs with good marbling. Baby back ribs are a popular choice, but you can also use spare ribs or country-style ribs.
  • Prepare the ribs: Remove the membrane from the back of the ribs to help the sauce penetrate the meat. You can also trim any excess fat.
  • Make a flavorful rub: Combine spices and herbs to create a rub that will enhance the taste of the ribs. Common ingredients include brown sugar, paprika, garlic powder, onion powder, and cayenne pepper.
  • Cook the ribs in a slow cooker: Place the ribs in a slow cooker and cover them with barbecue sauce. Cook on low for 8-10 hours, or until the ribs are fall-off-the-bone tender.
  • Glaze the ribs: For a sticky and flavorful glaze, brush the ribs with additional barbecue sauce during the last hour of cooking.

Conclusion:

Crock-Pot barbecue ribs are an easy and delicious meal that can be enjoyed by the whole family. With just a few simple ingredients and a little time, you can create a mouthwatering dish that will be a hit at any gathering. So next time you're looking for a hassle-free meal, give this recipe a try!
