Steps:
- 1. Slice each hard boiled egg in half length-wise and pop the yolk into a bowl.
- 2. Line up the white part of the eggs on a plate and set aside.
- 3. Mash all the eggs yolks with a fork until fine crumbled.
- 4. Add the onion powder, celery seed, salt & pepper to the yolks. Add the mayonnaise and Durkee sauce. Mix well.
- 5. Fill the holes in the whites with teaspoonfuls of the yolk mixture until all the yolk mixture is evenly divided between the eggs.
- 6. Slice the olives in half and top each yolk mixture with half an olive cut side up. Sprinkle with paprika and refrigerate until ready to serve.
Tips:
- Use the freshest eggs possible. Older eggs will have a less flavorful yolk and may be more difficult to peel.
- Hard-boil your eggs perfectly. Overcooked eggs will have a chalky yolk and be difficult to peel. Undercooked eggs will have a runny yolk and may be unsafe to eat.
- Use a variety of fillings. The classic deviled egg filling is made with mayonnaise, mustard, and paprika, but there are endless possibilities. Try adding other ingredients like bacon, cheese, herbs, or spices to create your unique deviled eggs.
- Get creative with your presentation. Deviled eggs can be served on a simple platter or dressed up with garnishes like chives, parsley, or paprika. You can also use cookie cutters to create fun shapes or arrange the deviled eggs in a decorative pattern.
- Make deviled eggs ahead of time. Deviled eggs can be made up to 24 hours in advance and stored in the refrigerator. This makes them a great option for parties or potlucks.
Conclusion:
Deviled eggs are a classic party appetizer that is easy to make and always a crowd-pleaser. With a little creativity, you can create deviled eggs that are both delicious and visually appealing. So next time you're looking for a simple but impressive appetizer, give deviled eggs a try.
