Two 15-ounce cans sliced peaches in syrup
1/2 cup (1 stick) butter
1 cup self-rising flour
1 cup sugar
1 cup milk
Homemade Whipped Cream, recipe follows
2 cups whipping cream, chilled in the fridge
4 tablespoons sugar

Steps:

  • Preheat the oven to 350 degrees F.
  • Drain 1 can of peaches; reserve the syrup from the other. Place the butter in a 9- by 12-inch ovenproof baking dish. Heat the butter on the stove or in the oven until it's melted. In a medium bowl, mix the flour and sugar. Stir in the milk and the reserved syrup. Pour the batter over the melted butter in the baking dish. Arrange the peaches over the batter. Bake for 1 hour. The cobbler is done when the batter rises around the peaches and the crust is thick and golden brown. Serve warm with fresh whipped cream

1/4 cup cornstarch
1 cup water
9 cups sliced fresh or frozen peaches
1/4 cup butter

TOPPING:
2 cups all-purpose flour
3/4 cup sugar
1 tablespoon baking powder
1/4 teaspoon salt
3/4 cup 2% milk
1/2 cup butter, melted
1-1/2 teaspoons grated orange zest, optional

Steps:

  • Preheat oven to 400°. In a Dutch oven, combine brown sugar, cornstarch and water until smooth. Add peaches; bring to a boil. Cook and stir for 2 minutes. Reduce heat to low; stir in butter and lemon juice. , For topping, combine flour, sugar, baking powder and salt in a bowl. Stir in milk, butter and orange zest if desired. This is a very easy recipe. I don't know where it came from as it is very common here in the south. It's what we refer to as the "cuppa" recipe because it uses a cup of flour, cup of sugar, etc... Nearly everybody has either heard of it or knows how to make it! It's a family favorite and I like to serve it with a scoop of vanilla...

1 large can(s) sliced peaches in heavy syrup (i think its a 28 ounce can)
1 c self-rising flour
1 c sugar
1 c milk
1 stick butter, melt half of the stick
1 tsp vanilla extract
1 dash(es) salt

Steps:

  • 1. Preheat over to 350* and lightly spray a 7.5 x 11 inch casserole pan or a 9x9 in. square pan.
  • 2. In a medium pot add peaches and juice, 1/2 stick butter. Heat till it comes to a boil then remove from heat.
  • 3. In a medium bowl add flour, sugar, salt and mix. Now add milk and vanilla and stir to combine. Pour into baking dish then pour hot peach mixture over that. Pour the 1/2 stick melted butter on top. Bake for 10 minutes then I like to sprinkle a couple pinches of sugar on top and return to oven. Bake another 10 minutes then start checking it. It takes 20-30 minutes total, depending on your oven.
