Tips:
- To tenderize cube steak, use a meat mallet or the side of a heavy knife to pound it until it is about 1/4 inch thick. This will help the steak cook evenly and prevent it from becoming tough.
- Season the steak generously with salt and pepper before cooking. This will help enhance the flavor of the meat.
- Brown the steak in a hot skillet over medium-high heat. This will create a nice crust on the outside of the steak while keeping the inside juicy.
- Reduce the heat to medium-low and cook the steak for an additional 5-7 minutes per side, or until it reaches your desired doneness.
- For the gravy, whisk together the flour and water until smooth. Gradually add the mixture to the skillet with the steak, stirring constantly. Bring the gravy to a simmer and cook for 1-2 minutes, or until it has thickened.
- Serve the cube steak with the gravy and your favorite sides, such as mashed potatoes, green beans, or rice.
