Steps:
- In a skillet heat 1 tbsp of the oil over med-high heat. Add beef and cook until browned through. Remove with a slotted spoon and transfer to the slow cooker. Drain the liquid from the pan. Reduce the heat to med. Add the remaining oil to the pan. Add onions and celery, and cook until well softened. Add garlic, salt, thyme, and peppercorns stirring for 1 minute. Stir in tomato soup, stock, and Worcestershire sauce. Transfer to slow cooker, add rigatoni and stir well.
- Cover and cook on low for 8 hours, or cook on high for 4 hours until very hot and bubbly. Stir in the cheese and cook on high for another 20 minutes, until the cheese is melted.
Tips:
- Choose the right pasta: Short, sturdy pastas like rigatoni, penne, or rotini hold up well in a slow cooker. Avoid delicate pastas like angel hair or linguine, which can become mushy.
- Cook the pasta al dente: Before adding the pasta to the slow cooker, cook it according to the package directions until it is al dente (slightly firm to the bite). This will prevent the pasta from overcooking and becoming mushy in the slow cooker.
- Use a flavorful sauce: The sauce is what will give your crock pot rigatoni its flavor, so make sure to use a sauce that you love. You can use a store-bought sauce or make your own. If you are using a store-bought sauce, be sure to add some extra seasonings to taste.
- Add some vegetables: Vegetables add flavor, color, and nutrition to your crock pot rigatoni. Some good options include bell peppers, onions, mushrooms, zucchini, and spinach.
- Don't overcrowd the slow cooker: Make sure there is enough space in the slow cooker for the pasta, sauce, and vegetables to cook evenly. If the slow cooker is too crowded, the food will not cook properly.
- Cook on low for 4-6 hours: Crock pot rigatoni typically takes 4-6 hours to cook on low. The exact cooking time will depend on the type of pasta you are using and the amount of sauce and vegetables you have added.
Conclusion:
Crock pot rigatoni is an easy and delicious meal that is perfect for busy weeknights. With a few simple ingredients and a little planning, you can have a flavorful and satisfying dinner on the table in no time. So next time you are looking for a quick and easy meal, give crock pot rigatoni a try.
