APPLE CINNAMON CROCK POT POTPOURRI

Apple Cinnamon Crock Pot Potpourri image

After reading many different crock pot potpourri recipes I came up with this one, and my house smells wonderful! :) If you don't have a small crock pot, just use a sauce pan and simmer on your stove. These are fun to throw together because you can use what ever you want to create the scent you want and you can't really mess up. I used the spices sold in the cellophane bag, they are very inexpensive and are usually in the Hispanic section of the grocery store.

HOLIDAY CROCKPOT POTPOURRI

This little mixture will make your home smell delish for the Christmas season!

Categories     Other Non-Edibles

Time 10m

Number Of Ingredients 5

3 cup(s) water
2 - cinnamon sticks
3 or 4 - whole cloves
3 - whole allspice or 1 1/2 tsp. ground
1 teaspoon(s) grated/ground nutmeg

Steps:

  • 1. Combine everything in a small crock-pot. Turn on high for an hour, then reduce heat to lowest setting and simmer uncovered for hours. You can add a bit more water as needed. (Do not drink)
  • 2. If you only have a very large crock-pot you can either double the recipe or the mixture can be simmered in a saucepan on the stove, but it will need to be watched more closely.

Tips:

  • Choose the Right Essential Oils: Select high-quality essential oils that are known for their pleasant aromas and therapeutic benefits. Consider using a blend of oils to create a unique fragrance.
  • Experiment with Different Spices: Add whole spices like cinnamon sticks, cloves, nutmeg, and star anise to enhance the scent and create a warm, inviting atmosphere.
  • Use Fresh Citrus Peels: Citrus peels, especially from oranges, lemons, and grapefruits, add a bright, uplifting aroma to the potpourri. Make sure to remove the white pith before adding the peels to avoid bitterness.
  • Incorporate Dried Flowers and Herbs: Dried flowers like lavender, rose petals, and chamomile add visual appeal and contribute to the overall fragrance. Consider using culinary herbs like rosemary, thyme, and sage for a unique twist.
  • Adjust the Water Level: The amount of water you add to the crock pot will affect the intensity of the aroma. Start with a small amount of water and adjust as needed. Too much water can dilute the fragrance.
  • Monitor the Temperature: Keep the crock pot on a low or warm setting to gently release the fragrance. High temperatures can burn the essential oils and alter their scent.

Conclusion:

Creating a crock pot potpourri is an easy and enjoyable way to fill your home with beautiful aromas and enhance your mood. By following these tips, you can customize your potpourri to suit your personal preferences and create a unique sensory experience. Remember to experiment with different combinations of essential oils, spices, and botanicals to discover the perfect blend that brings joy and relaxation to your space. Whether you're looking to create a cozy ambiance, freshen up a room, or simply enjoy the therapeutic benefits of aromatherapy, a crock pot potpourri is a simple yet effective solution.
