CROCK POT GARLIC MASHED POTATOES

An easy way to make garlic mashed potatoes. I like to leave the skins on. I've found that a pastry blender works great for mashing potatoes; it seems even better than a masher.

Number Of Ingredients 7

2 lbs baking potatoes, cubed (or 1 lb baking potatoes and 1 lb red potatoes)

RANCH HOUSE CROCK POT PORK CHOPS W/ PARMESAN MASHED POTATOES

Ranch House Crock Pot Pork Chops W/ Parmesan Mashed Potatoes image

This is a hugely popular slow cooker recipe originating on Picky Palate's blog. By many who have made this, it's been suggested to add 2 cans of soup for additional gravy, but do NOT increase the Ranch Dressing Seasoning for it will become too intensely flavored. Many recipes are out there for roasting garlic. I simply put the cloves in a square of foil, drizzle with olive oil, seal and bake in a toaster oven for about 20 minutes or until soft and golden.

Categories     Pork

Time 4h5m

Yield 6 serving(s)

Number Of Ingredients 10

6 pork chops, 1/2 inch thick
1 (1 ounce) packet dry ranch dressing mix
10 ounces cream of chicken soup
4 lbs peeled cubed potatoes
5 tablespoons real butter
1 cup freshly grated parmesan cheese
6 cloves roasted garlic
1 -1 1/2 cup warm milk
1 tablespoon salt (to taste)
1 teaspoon fresh cracked black pepper (to taste)

Steps:

  • Place pork chops, Ranch seasoning and soup into a medium sized crock pot over high heat for 4 hours or low heat for 6 hours. (This may take less time than allowed. Check prior to end time so as not to overcook.).
  • Place potatoes into a large pot of cold water. Place onto stovetop over high heat and bring to a boil. Once water is boiling, cook for 10-12 minutes or until potatoes are fork tender. Drain and transfer to the work bowl of a stand or electric mixer. Mix on low until potatoes are mashed then add butter, parmesan, garlic, milk, salt and pepper. Season to taste if needed. For thinner mashed potatoes add more milk, slowly until your desired consitency.

CROCK POT MASHED POTATOES

My mother gave me this helpful hint and I now do it everytime! After making your mashed potatoes...put them in the crock pot to keep warm. Thus, you can do them ahead of time!

Provided by Cherie Hammond

Categories     Potatoes

Number Of Ingredients 4

5 lb golden potatoes (or your choice)
milk
1 stick butter
1 pkg cream cheese

Steps:

  • 1. Peel the potatoes and cut them in quarters. Put in heavy pan and cover with water. Boil until tender, approximately 30 minutes.
  • 2. Drain and then put in mixer bowl. As you begin to beat them, add milk to desired consistency; and then add up to one stick of butter and about 1/2 package of cream cheese. Again...up to you...but since I then put them in the crock pot, I like them a little creamier to start with!
  • 3. Pour into greased crock pot and keep on low until you are ready for them!

I found this recipe on the Budget Savvy Diva site and it has been saving me tons of time (and stess) for the past few weeks! And like she said in the blog, the cream cheese makes all the difference. I can't wait to make this for our huge Thanksgiving dinner so I can focus on other recipes.

LAYERED BEEF AND MASHED POTATOES (CROCK POT)

Layered Beef and Mashed Potatoes (Crock Pot) image

Do not make this recipe...it is not good!!!***Posting later to let everyone know...I wouldn't make this recipe again, I posted it on a friends recommendation. I really do not care for this recipe and do not recommend that you make it!***My friend from work gave me this recipe. She has to feed a wide spread of ages; she has herself and her husband, a 17 year old, 9 year old, and an almost 3 year old. She said everyone loved this. When she got home from work, everyone had already started on it, and she only got a little tiny bit! So I knew I had to give it a try! I tried it using homemade mashed potatoes, and they sort of ran down into the meat. I think the instant potatoes would be drier and probably work better in the recipe.

Number Of Ingredients 8

5 lb potatoes
1 stick butter
1 Tbsp minced garlic
1 tsp salt
1 tsp pepper
3/4 c water or chicken broth
1/2 c sour cream
3 Tbsp cream cheese or more if you like

  • Don't Overcook Potatoes: Overcooked potatoes will become gluey.
  • Use a Good Quality Broth: Chicken or vegetable broth will add flavor to the mashed potatoes.
  • Don't Add Milk or Cream Too Early: Adding milk or cream too early can make the mashed potatoes curdle.
  • Use a Hand Mixer or Potato Masher: A hand mixer or potato masher will give you a smoother texture than a food processor.
  • Season to Taste: Add salt, pepper, and other seasonings to taste.
  • Garnish with Fresh Herbs: Fresh herbs like chives or parsley will add a pop of color and flavor to the mashed potatoes.

Conclusion:

Crock-Pot mashed potatoes are a delicious and easy side dish that can be enjoyed by people of all ages. By following these tips, you can make the perfect mashed potatoes every time.
