This hearty and flavorful salad is easy to prepare and great served over warm laffa bread for a complete meal. While my favorite version contains a tasty gourmet chicken and apple sausage, any smoked sausage such as kielbasa will do. Enjoy!

Tips:

  • Choose the right apples: Use firm, tart apples like Granny Smith or Honeycrisp. They hold their shape well in the salad and provide a nice contrast to the sweet sausage and dressing.
  • Slice the apples thinly: This will help them cook evenly in the dressing and absorb the flavors.
  • Brown the sausage well: This will give it a nice caramelized flavor and make it less greasy.
  • Make the dressing ahead of time: This will allow the flavors to meld and develop. You can make it up to 2 days in advance and store it in the refrigerator.
  • Toss the salad just before serving: This will prevent the apples from getting soggy.

Conclusion:

This crisp apple and sausage salad is a delicious and easy-to-make dish that is perfect for a light lunch or dinner. The combination of sweet apples, savory sausage, and tangy dressing is sure to please everyone at the table. Plus, it's gluten-free and can be made ahead of time, making it a great option for busy weeknights. So next time you're looking for a quick and healthy meal, give this salad a try!
