CREAMY JALAPENO POPPER DIP RECIPE - (4.5/5)

Creamy Jalapeno Popper Dip Recipe - (4.5/5) image

Provided by á-10881

Number Of Ingredients 10

4 Wright® Brand Bacon strips, chopped, any brand thick cut bacon
1 (8-ounce) package cream cheese, softened
2 cups cheddar cheese, shredded, about 8 ounces
1/2 cup sour cream
1/4 cup 2% milk
3 jalapeno peppers, seeded and chopped
1 teaspoon white wine vinegar
1/3 cup panko (Japanese) bread crumbs
2 tablespoons butter
Tortilla chips

Steps:

  • Preheat oven to 350°F. In a small skillet, cook bacon over medium heat until crisp, stirring occasionally. Remove with a slotted spoon; drain on paper towels. Discard drippings, reserving 1 tablespoon. In a large bowl, mix cream cheese, cheddar cheese, sour cream, milk, jalapenos, vinegar, cooked bacon and reserved drippings. Transfer to a greased 8-in.-square baking dish. Sprinkle with bread crumbs; dot with butter. Bake 30-35 minutes or until bubbly and topping is golden brown. Serve with chips.

Tips:

  • Use fresh jalapeños: Fresh jalapeños have a brighter flavor and more heat than jarred or canned jalapeños. If you can't find fresh jalapeños, you can substitute 1 jar (4 ounces) of diced jalapeños, drained and seeded.
  • Roast the jalapeños before using them: Roasting the jalapeños mellows their heat and brings out their smoky flavor. To roast the jalapeños, preheat your oven to 400 degrees Fahrenheit. Cut the jalapeños in half lengthwise and remove the seeds. Place the jalapeños on a baking sheet and drizzle them with olive oil. Roast the jalapeños for 15-20 minutes, or until they are softened and slightly charred.
  • Use a good quality cream cheese: The cream cheese is the base of the dip, so it's important to use a good quality brand. I recommend using Philadelphia Cream Cheese.
  • Don't overcook the dip: The dip should be cooked until it is just warmed through. If you overcook it, the cream cheese will become grainy and the dip will be less creamy.
  • Serve the dip immediately: The dip is best served immediately after it is made. If you need to make it ahead of time, you can store it in the refrigerator for up to 2 days. When you're ready to serve the dip, reheat it in the microwave or in a saucepan over low heat.

Conclusion:

This creamy jalapeño popper dip is the perfect appetizer for any party or gathering. It's easy to make, delicious, and always a crowd-pleaser. The roasted jalapeños give the dip a smoky flavor, while the cream cheese and sour cream make it creamy and rich. The cheddar cheese and bacon add a cheesy and savory flavor, and the green onions add a pop of freshness. This dip is sure to be a hit with everyone who tries it!
