Tips:

  • Use high-quality rice: For the best results, use a short-grain rice like Arborio or Carnaroli. These rices have a high starch content, which helps to create a creamy pudding.
  • Cook the rice properly: Be sure to cook the rice according to the package directions. Undercooked rice will be hard and chewy, while overcooked rice will be mushy.
  • Use whole milk: Whole milk will give the pudding a richer flavor and creamier texture than skim or low-fat milk.
  • Add sugar to taste: The amount of sugar you add will depend on your personal preference. Start with 1/2 cup and add more to taste.
  • Use real vanilla extract: Real vanilla extract will give the pudding a much better flavor than artificial vanilla extract.
  • Let the pudding cool before serving: This will allow the pudding to thicken and set properly.

Conclusion:

Rice pudding is a classic comfort food that is easy to make and loved by people of all ages. This creamy family-style rice pudding recipe is a great way to use up leftover rice, and it's also a delicious and satisfying dessert.
