Categories     Seasoning Mix     Soup

Time 10m

Number Of Ingredients 7

4 cups non-fat powdered milk
1.5 cups arrowroot powder (or cornstarch)
.5 cups instant chicken bouillon
4 tsp dried onion flakes
2 tsp dried basil
2 tsp dried thyme
1 tsp pepper

Steps:

  • Measure all ingredients and place in a bowl. Stir well. You can use a bullet style blender or a food processor to grind into a fine powder if you want. Store in a container with a lid until ready to use.
  • When you need a can of soup, heat one cup of water on the stove. Add ⅓ cup dry mix. Cook over low heat until thick, stirring occasionally. I find that a whisk helps it mix better than using a spoon.
  • If you want a specific kind of cream of something soup, add one of the following:--½ cup diced mushrooms--½ cup chopped broccoli--½ cup diced celery--½ cup shredded cheddar cheese--½ cup cooked, shredded or cubed chicken--½ cup diced tomatoes

CREAM OF MUSHROOM SOUP MIX DRIED - SUBSTITUTE

Cream of Mushroom Soup Mix Dried - Substitute image

I have been looking for a good mix that I can use instead of canned soup. This is what I came up with

Provided by Leanne Malone

Categories     < 60 Mins

Time 45m

Yield 6 serving(s)

Number Of Ingredients 6

1 cup dried mushroom
1/2 teaspoon dried onion
3 tablespoons all-purpose flour
1 teaspoon salt
1/8 teaspoon pepper
1 cup powdered milk

Steps:

  • Combine all ingredients and store in a tightly covered container.
  • Makes 6- 8 ounce servings or is equal to 4 cans of soup.
  • To make soup stir all ingredients into 1 1/2 quarts boiling water.
  • Cook, stirring constantly until smooth and thickened.
  • Cover and cook over very low heat 20 to 30 minutes.

Tips:

  • Use a variety of vegetables. Different vegetables will give your soup a different flavor and texture. For example, carrots add sweetness, celery adds crunch, and onions add depth of flavor.
  • Don't be afraid to experiment with different seasonings. Salt and pepper are a good starting point, but you can also add other spices like garlic powder, onion powder, or paprika.
  • Be careful not to overcook your vegetables. Overcooked vegetables will become mushy and lose their flavor.
  • If you're using a slow cooker, cook your soup on low for 6-8 hours or on high for 3-4 hours.
  • If you're making a creamy soup, add a cup of milk or cream at the end of cooking. You can also use a blender to puree the soup until it's smooth.
  • Garnish your soup with fresh herbs or a dollop of sour cream before serving.

Conclusion:

Cream of soup mixes are a versatile and convenient way to make a delicious and satisfying meal. With a few simple ingredients, you can create a creamy soup that's perfect for a weeknight dinner or a special occasion.

So next time you're looking for an easy and delicious meal, reach for a cream of soup mix. You won't be disappointed!
