These were served at a party many years ago, and I have made them from time to time over the years, and they always disappear quickly. If you enjoy seafood, you will love these. Preparation time does not include freezing time.

CRABBIES RECIPE - (3.3/5)

Crabbies Recipe - (3.3/5) image

Provided by á-10887

Number Of Ingredients 7

6 whole english muffins, split in half
1/2 cup margarine or butter
1 jar "Kraft" Old English cheesespread
1 1/2 tsp mayonnaise
1/2 tsp garlic salt
1/2 tsp salt
1 7 oz can crab meat, undrained

Steps:

  • 1. Blend all but crab meat together. Stir in crab meat. Freeze on cookie sheet, cut into 1/4 sections while frozen. Cook frozen. Broil 5-7 minutes. Use less salt, less butter, more crab.

Tips:

  • Choose Fresh Crabs: Select live crabs with heavy bodies and firm shells. Check for any cracks or discoloration, as these may indicate poor quality.
  • Clean the Crabs Properly: Before cooking, clean the crabs thoroughly to remove any dirt or debris. Rinse them under cold running water and remove the top shell.
  • Use a Large Pot: When boiling the crabs, use a large pot that can accommodate the crabs comfortably. Overcrowding the pot can prevent even cooking.
  • Season the Boiling Water: Add salt, Old Bay seasoning, and other desired spices to the boiling water to infuse the crabs with flavor.
  • Boil for the Right Amount of Time: The cooking time for crabs depends on their size. As a general guideline, boil small crabs for 5-7 minutes, medium crabs for 8-10 minutes, and large crabs for 10-12 minutes.
  • Chill the Crabs Before Serving: After boiling, transfer the crabs to an ice bath to stop the cooking process and preserve their delicate texture.

Conclusion:

Paula Deen's Crabbies offer a delightful culinary experience that combines the succulent flavors of fresh crab with a variety of seasonings and cooking methods. Whether you prefer the classic boiled crabs, the spicy crab cakes, or the creamy crab soup, these recipes provide options for every taste and occasion. Remember to follow the tips mentioned above to ensure perfectly cooked and flavorful crabs. With a little patience and attention to detail, you can recreate these delicious dishes at home and impress your family and friends with your culinary skills.
