The thing I like most about this recipe is the ingredients are usually in my cupboards. Very pretty if you make it in a glass serving bowl. Makes a great dessert, too.

1 c black pitted cherries (or maraschino cherries)
1 c pecans, chopped (optional)

Steps:

COKE SALAD

Coke Salad image

This may seem strange, but it is really good. It wouldn't be Thanksgiving dinner without it.

Provided by Joyce Shank

Categories     Gelatin Salads

Number Of Ingredients 3

1 small package of lemon jello
1 small coke (6 l/2 oz)
chopped pecans

Steps:

  • 1. Heat Coke and dissolve jello in Coke. I add a couple of ice cubes to make up the difference in the liquid that the jello calls for. Add chopped pecans about a cup. Pecans will come to the top as it sets. Chill. My family eats this with a dollop of mayonnaise on top. (Sounds strange but it's good.)

COKE SALAD

This recipe is always fixed for Thanksgiving and Christmas. It is a rich tasting gelatin salad with fruit and nuts and you will hope you have leftovers for a snack later!

Provided by Carol Powell

Categories     Other Salads

Time 1h

Number Of Ingredients 5

2 pkg black cherry or any red jello
6 oz coca cola - no diet cola
1 can(s) dark sweet cherries
1 can(s) crushed pineapple
1 c pecans, in pieces

Steps:

  • 1. Drain cherries and pineapple into a saucepan. Set aside the fruit. Bring juices to a boil and remove from heat.
  • 2. Add Jello and dissolve thoroughly in the hot liquid.
  • 3. Add Coca Cola slowly. Do not use diet soda. It will foam but that will mostly dissipate as it cools. Chill until it starts to thicken.
  • 4. Add all the fruit and the pecans and stir well. Pour into a mold or dish and chill until firmly set.
  • 5. This recipe is pretty in a crystal bowl. It will keep for about 4 days in the refrigerator.

Tips:

  • Choose the right cola: Use a cola that you enjoy the taste of. Some popular options include Coca-Cola, Pepsi, and Dr. Pepper.
  • Use fresh fruit: The fresher the fruit, the better the salad will taste. If you can, use fruit that is in season.
  • Don't overmix the salad: Gently stir the ingredients together until they are combined. Overmixing will make the salad mushy.
  • Chill the salad before serving: This will help the flavors to meld and the salad will be more refreshing.
  • Serve the salad in individual bowls or glasses: This will make it easier for your guests to enjoy.

Conclusion:

Coke salad is a delicious and refreshing dessert that is perfect for any occasion. It is easy to make and can be tailored to your own taste. With a few simple tips, you can make the perfect coke salad that your friends and family will love.
