Time 23m

Yield 12 Waffles, 4-6 serving(s)

Number Of Ingredients 8

2 cups all-purpose flour
2 tablespoons sugar
1 teaspoon salt
1 teaspoon active dry yeast
3/4 cup unsalted butter, melted and cooled
1 1/2 cups milk
1 teaspoon vanilla extract
3 eggs, seperated

Steps:

  • Start the night before. Mix dry ingredients and sift. Add remaining ingredients except for eggs. Cover the bowl with plastic wrap and leave out overnight. Room temperature.
  • Come morning, beat in egg yolks to yeast mixture. Beat egg whites with whisk until stiff peaks are made. Fold the egg whites into the mixture with a spoon. Cook for 3 minutes in preheated deep waffle iron.

Tips for Making Perfect Belgian Waffles:

  • Use high-quality ingredients, especially butter and vanilla extract. Real butter adds a rich flavor and aroma, while pure vanilla extract provides a deep vanilla flavor.
  • Do not overmix the batter. Overmixing can result in tough waffles. Mix just until the ingredients are combined.
  • Let the batter rest for at least 30 minutes before cooking. This allows the gluten in the flour to relax, resulting in lighter and fluffier waffles.
  • Preheat your waffle iron according to the manufacturer's instructions. A properly preheated waffle iron will ensure that your waffles cook evenly.
  • Use the correct amount of batter. Too much batter will result in thick, dense waffles, while too little batter will result in thin, crispy waffles. Follow the recipe's instructions for the correct amount of batter.
  • Cook the waffles according to the manufacturer's instructions. Do not open the waffle iron during cooking, as this can cause the waffles to stick and break.
  • Serve the waffles immediately with your favorite toppings. Belgian waffles are delicious with butter, syrup, fruit, whipped cream, or ice cream.

Conclusion:

Classic Belgian waffles are a delicious and versatile breakfast or brunch dish. With their light and fluffy texture, crispy exterior, and rich flavor, they are sure to please everyone at the table. By following the tips above, you can make perfect Belgian waffles at home every time.
