Time 55m

Yield 4-6 serving(s)

Number Of Ingredients 9

1 cup rolled oats
1 cup flour
1 cup brown sugar
1/2 cup sugar
1/2 cup melted butter
1 teaspoon cinnamon
1/2 teaspoon pumpkin pie spice
4 cups golden delicious apples, peeled and diced
whipped cream, for topping

Steps:

  • Preheat oven to 350 degrees.
  • In a large mixing bowl, combine oats, flour, brown sugar, and butter. Mix well until crumbly.
  • Press half of the mixture onto the bottom of a greased baking dish.
  • In another bowl, mix apples, cinnamon, and sugar. Spread evenly over crust.
  • Sprinkle with remaining crumbs.
  • Bake for 40-45 minutes.
  • Serve topped with whipped cream.

Tips:

  • Choose the right apples. For this recipe, it is best to use a firm, tart apple such as a Granny Smith or Honeycrisp. This will help to keep the apples from becoming too mushy during baking.
  • Slice the apples thinly. This will help them to cook evenly and quickly.
  • Don't overcook the oats. Oatmeal should be cooked until it is tender but still has a slight bite to it. Overcooked oats will be mushy and unappetizing.
  • Use a well-seasoned cast iron skillet. Cast iron skillets are great for cooking because they distribute heat evenly and retain heat well. This will help to ensure that the oatmeal and apples are cooked evenly.
  • Serve the oatmeal apple crisp warm. This is the best way to enjoy the delicious flavors of the apples and cinnamon.

Conclusion:

This cinnamon oatmeal apple crisp is a delicious and easy-to-make breakfast or dessert. It is perfect for a cold morning or a cozy evening by the fire. The combination of apples, cinnamon, and oats is sure to please everyone at your table. So next time you are looking for a simple and satisfying recipe, give this cinnamon oatmeal apple crisp a try.
