Time 1h15m

Number Of Ingredients 13

1/2 c butter (1 stick)
1 c sugar
1 large egg
1 1/2 c all purpose flour
1 1/2 tsp baking soda
1 1/2 tsp cinnamon
1/2 tsp ground nutmeg
1/4 tsp ground cloves
1/2 tsp salt
1 1/4 c applesauce, unsweetened
1 tsp vanilla
1/2 c raisins
3/4 c chopped walnuts

Steps:

  • 1. Preheat oven to 350 degrees. Grease and flour a 9x5 loaf pan and set aside. Cream together the butter and sugar until fluffy. Beat in the egg.
  • 2. In a separate bowl, stir together the flour, baking soda, cinnamon, nutmeg, cloves and salt. Gradually add to the creamed mixture. Beat in the applesauce and vanilla. Fold in the raisins and walnuts.
  • 3. Pour into the prepared loaf pan and bake at 350 degrees for 60-70 minutes, until a toothpick inserted in the center comes out clean. Cool 10 minutes in the pan and then remove, let cool, slice and serve. Good with cream cheese spread.

Tips:

  • Use ripe and flavorful apples for the best flavor. Granny Smith, Honeycrisp, and Braeburn are all good choices.
  • Don't overmix the batter. Overmixing can make the bread tough.
  • Bake the bread until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out with just a few moist crumbs attached.
  • Let the bread cool completely before glazing. This will help the glaze set properly.
  • Store the bread in an airtight container at room temperature for up to 3 days, or in the refrigerator for up to 1 week.

Conclusion:

Cinnamon applesauce bread is a delicious and easy-to-make bread that is perfect for breakfast, lunch, or a snack.
