Time 45m

Number Of Ingredients 5

1 can apple pie filling
1 unbaked pie shell
1/2 tsp cinnamon
4 Tbsp butter
2 c crushed pecan sandies cookies

Steps:

  • 1. Pour filling into pie shell. Sprinkle with cinnamon and dot with 1 Tbsp. butter.
  • 2. Melt remaining butter. Place cookie crumbs in a bowl, stir in melted butter until coarse crumbs form. Sprinkle over filling. Cover edges loosely with foil.
  • 3. Bake at 450 degrees for 10 minutes. Remove foil and reduce oven temperature to 350. Bake 20 minutes more.

Tips:

  • Use a variety of apples for best flavor and texture. Tart apples, such as Granny Smith or Braeburn, provide a nice contrast to the sweetness of the cinnamon and sugar filling. Softer apples, such as Honeycrisp or Pink Lady, add a bit of sweetness and juiciness.
  • Don't overmix the dough. Overmixing will make the dough tough. Just mix until the ingredients are well combined.
  • Chill the dough before rolling it out. This will make it easier to work with and will help prevent the dough from shrinking in the oven.
  • Use a sharp knife to slice the apples. This will help prevent the apples from bruising and will make them easier to work with.
  • Don't overfill the pie crust. Leave about 1/2 inch of space around the edges of the pie crust so that the filling has room to expand.
  • Bake the pie until the crust is golden brown and the filling is bubbling. This will take about 1 hour.
  • Let the pie cool for at least 1 hour before serving. This will allow the filling to set and will make the pie easier to slice.

Conclusion:

This classic cinnamon apple crumb pie is a delicious and easy-to-make dessert that is perfect for any occasion. With its flaky crust, sweet and tart filling, and crunchy crumb topping, this pie is sure to be a hit with everyone who tries it.
