Tips:

  • Use a variety of meat: Ground beef, pork, and veal are all traditional ingredients in Cincinnati chili, but you can also use lamb or venison. If you're using ground turkey, be sure to drain off the excess fat before cooking.
  • Brown the meat well: This will help to develop the flavor of the chili. Be sure to break up the meat into small pieces as it cooks.
  • Use a good quality chili seasoning: There are many different brands of chili seasoning available, so be sure to read the labels carefully and choose one that you like. You can also make your own chili seasoning using a blend of spices, such as chili powder, cumin, paprika, and cayenne pepper.
  • Simmer the chili for at least 30 minutes: This will allow the flavors to meld and develop. The longer you simmer the chili, the better it will taste.
  • Serve the chili with your favorite toppings: Some popular toppings for Cincinnati chili include shredded cheddar cheese, diced onions, and sour cream. You can also serve it with oyster crackers or a side of cornbread.
