Tips for Making Perfect Christmas Caramel Corn

  • Use fresh popcorn. Fresh popcorn will help the caramel stick better and create a more flavorful snack.
  • Make sure the sugar is completely dissolved before adding the baking soda. If the sugar is not completely dissolved, it will crystallize and the caramel will be grainy.
  • Stir the caramel constantly while it is cooking. This will help prevent it from burning.
  • Be careful when adding the baking soda. The baking soda will cause the caramel to foam up, so add it slowly and stir constantly.
  • Pour the caramel over the popcorn and stir until it is evenly coated. Work quickly, as the caramel will start to harden as it cools.
  • Spread the caramel corn out on a baking sheet and let it cool completely. Once it is cool, break it into pieces and enjoy!
