2 packages (1/4 ounce each) active dry yeast
1-1/2 cups warm water (110° to 115°)
6 tablespoons butter
1/3 cup nonfat dry milk powder
1/4 cup sugar
1 large egg
3/4 teaspoon salt
4-1/2 to 5-1/2 cups all-purpose flour
2 tablespoons butter, melted
1/2 cup chopped almonds
1-1/2 teaspoons ground cinnamon
1 cup confectioners' sugar
1 tablespoon water
1/4 teaspoon almond extract

  • In a large bowl, dissolve yeast in warm water. Add the butter, milk powder, sugar, egg, salt and 3 cups flour. Beat on medium speed for 3 minutes. Stir in enough remaining flour to form a soft dough (dough will be sticky). , Turn onto a floured surface; knead until smooth and elastic, about 6-8 minutes. 1 small garlic clove, finely chopped
