BEST CLASSIC POTATO SALAD

Best Classic Potato Salad image

Creamy, tangy, and crunchy, with a hint of spice and sweetness from pickles, this reminds me of my grandmother's potato salad served every Easter or any time we had barbecue. She always dotted it with olives for a finishing touch and a perfect briny addition. This is the best classic version of good old-fashioned, Southern-style potato salad. Not too mayonaissey with just the right amount of tang! Serve with grilled or smoked meats as the perfect side dish.

⅓ cup sour cream
3 tablespoons yellow mustard
5 stalks green onions, sliced (white and green parts)

Tips:

  • Choose the right potatoes: Waxy potatoes, such as Yukon Gold or Red Bliss, hold their shape better than starchy potatoes, making them ideal for potato salad.
  • Cook the potatoes properly: Boil the potatoes until they are just tender, but not mushy. Overcooked potatoes will fall apart when you mix them with the other ingredients.
  • Let the potatoes cool completely: Before you add the potatoes to the salad, let them cool completely. This will help prevent the salad from becoming watery.
  • Use a light hand when mixing the salad: Overmixing will break up the potatoes and make the salad mushy. Gently stir the ingredients together until they are just combined.
  • Chill the salad before serving: Chilled potato salad is more refreshing and flavorful. Cover the salad and refrigerate it for at least 30 minutes before serving.

Conclusion:

Chow chow potato salad is a classic summer side dish that is easy to make and always a crowd-pleaser. With its tangy, sweet, and savory dressing, chow chow potato salad is the perfect complement to any grilled or fried main course.
