CHOCOLATE CARAMEL TRAY-BAKE SLICE

Chocolate Caramel Tray-Bake Slice image

This slice is NOT for the diet concious! Very rich and very yummy and did I mention very easy! You can substitute chocolate for a different kind, but if you use a chocolate with a creamy filling freeze the chocolate for an hour before using.

CHOCOLATE TRAY BAKE

Chocolate Tray Bake image

This is from my cookbook, titled "Chocolate" I have not tried it. (see edit below)I love the simple ingredients and easy instructions. Serve this warm with cream for dessert. it also can be frozen for about 2 months, just thaw at room temperature. Hope you enjoy! Edited to say that I have now cooked this cake. It is not a real sweet cake. The texture is a little denser than regular cake mix cake. It was delicious slightly warm with confectioners sugar dusted on top with a glass of milk! I believe it would be just the thing after a heavy meal or as a snack.

Time 50m

Yield 15 serving(s)

Number Of Ingredients 10

1 cup superfine sugar
1 cup soft margarine or 1 cup butter
4 eggs, beaten
4 tablespoons milk
3 cups self rising flour, sifted
3 tablespoons cocoa powder, sifted
1/3 cup milk chocolate chips
1/3 cup dark chocolate chips
1/3 cup white chocolate chips
confectioners' sugar, to dust

Steps:

  • Preheat oven to 350 degrees.
  • Grease 13 x 9 pan with butter or margarine.
  • In a large mixing bowl, place all the ingredients in the order listed, EXCEPT, the chocolate chips and confectioners sugar.
  • Mix well, until smooth.
  • Mix in the chocolate chips.
  • Spoon the mixture into the pan and level the surface.
  • Bake for 30-40 minutes, till risen and springy to the touch.
  • Cool in the pan.
  • Once, cool, dust with the confectioners sugar.
  • Cut into squares to serve.

Tips:

  • Use a high-quality chocolate. The better the chocolate, the better the tray bake will be. Look for a chocolate that has a cocoa content of at least 70%.
  • Don't overmix the batter. Overmixing will result in a tough, dense tray bake. Mix just until the ingredients are combined.
  • Bake the tray bake in a preheated oven. This will help to ensure that the tray bake cooks evenly.
  • Don't overbake the tray bake. Overbaking will result in a dry, crumbly tray bake. Bake just until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out with just a few moist crumbs attached.
  • Let the tray bake cool completely before cutting it. This will help to prevent the tray bake from falling apart.

Conclusion:

Chocolate tray bakes are a delicious and easy-to-make treat. They are perfect for any occasion, from a simple snack to a special dessert. With a few simple tips, you can make a chocolate tray bake that is sure to impress your friends and family.
