2 x 62.5g MarsĀ® Bars, chopped
100g bar milk chocolate, broken into pieces
2 tablespoons milk

Categories     Afternoon tea, Dessert, Treat

Time 20m

Yield Makes 9

Number Of Ingredients 7

100g milk chocolate, broken up
50g dark chocolate, broken up
100g butter
4 tbsp golden syrup
100g rice pops (we used Rice Krispies)
50g milk chocolate, melted
sprinkles, mini marshmallows, nuts, Smarties, dried fruit or white chocolate buttons

Steps:

  • Put the chocolate in a heatproof bowl with the butter and golden syrup and gently melt in 10-second bursts in the microwave, or melt it over a pan of simmering water, making sure the bowl doesn't touch the water. Stir until smooth, then take off the heat and stir in the rice pops, coating them gently with the chocolate until they are all completely covered.
  • Divide the mixture between nine cupcake or 12 fairy cake paper cases - it's easier if you slide these into a muffin tin as it will help them hold their shape. Leave to set. If you want them to set faster, put in the fridge for 1 hr.
  • Drizzle with a little melted chocolate and decorate with sweets, dried fruit or nuts while they are still wet enough to stick them on. Will keep in an airtight container for five days.

Tips:

  • Use fresh marshmallows for the best results. Old marshmallows may not melt properly and can make the rice krispie cakes tough.
  • Be careful not to overcook the marshmallows. If they are overcooked, they will become too sticky and the rice krispie cakes will be difficult to handle.
  • Add the melted marshmallows to the rice krispie cereal immediately after they are melted. If you wait too long, the marshmallows will start to set and it will be difficult to mix them with the cereal.
  • Use a large bowl to mix the rice krispie cereal and marshmallows. This will help to ensure that the cereal is evenly coated with marshmallows.
  • Press the rice krispie mixture firmly into the prepared pan. This will help to prevent the cakes from falling apart.
  • Let the rice krispie cakes cool completely before cutting them into bars. This will help to prevent them from crumbling.

Conclusion:

Chocolate rice krispie cakes are a delicious and easy-to-make treat that can be enjoyed by people of all ages. They are perfect for parties, potlucks, or simply as a snack. With a few simple tips, you can make the perfect chocolate rice krispie cakes every time.
