Yield 36 clusters

Number Of Ingredients 6

2 cup semi-sweet chocolate chips
3 cups pretzel sticks
2 cups mini marshmallows
1/2 cup salted peanuts
or
1/4 cup peanut butter (chunky or smooth)

Steps:

  • MICROWAVE chocolate chips in medium microwavable bowl on HIGH 2 to 3 minutes or until almost melted, stirring after 1-1/2 minutes. Stir until completely melted. (Stir in PB if using) ADD remaining ingredients; stir until evenly coated. DROP teaspoonfuls of the chocolate mixture onto wax paper or silicone sheet. Form into pyramids. Refrigerate at least 1 hour or until firm.

Tips:

  • Use good quality chocolate: The better the chocolate, the better your haystacks will taste. Look for chocolate with a high cocoa content (at least 60%).
  • Don't overcook the sugar mixture: The sugar mixture should be cooked until it reaches the soft ball stage. This means that when you drop a small amount of the mixture into a bowl of cold water, it will form a soft ball that holds its shape.
  • Work quickly: The chocolate mixture will start to set quickly, so work quickly to form the haystacks. If the mixture becomes too thick, you can add a little bit of milk to thin it out.
  • Chill the haystacks before serving: This will help them to set and firm up.

Conclusion:

Chocolate peanut butter haystacks are a delicious and easy-to-make treat that are perfect for any occasion. They are made with just a few simple ingredients and can be ready in under an hour. So next time you are looking for a sweet treat, give these haystacks a try. You won't be disappointed!
