ARGENTINEAN BURGERS WITH CHIMICHURRI SAUCE

Argentinean Burgers With Chimichurri Sauce image

I made these today after watching Michael Smith make them on Chef at Home. My mouth was watering while watching him grill the burgers, so I just had to try them. I luckily had everything on hand and they took no time at all. They're really, really good! I made 8 really big burgers on my barbecue, but the recipe states you can make 12 regular sized burgers if you prefer. Time 45m

Yield 8-12 large or regular, 8-12 serving(s)

Number Of Ingredients 18

1 large onion, peeled and chopped
8 garlic cloves, peeled and chopped
2 -4 jalapenos, minced
2 tablespoons ground cumin
3 tablespoons vegetable oil
4 lbs ground beef
salt and pepper
1/2 avocado, sliced
1/2 red onion, sliced
1/2 tomatoes, sliced
1/2 cup parsley, finely chopped
4 garlic cloves, finely minced
1/2 cup olive oil
1/4 cup red wine vinegar
1 small onion, peeled and sliced
1 tablespoon fresh oregano, minced
1 teaspoon chili flakes
salt

Steps:

  • Argentinean Burgers:.
  • Preheat your grill to its highest setting.
  • Sauté the onion, garlic, jalapeno and cumin in the vegetable oil until the vegetables soften. Cool slightly. Toss the beef into a mixing bowl along with the cooled onion mixture. Season well with salt and pepper and mix well.
  • Form into 8-12 hamburger patties.
  • Grill until cooked to your favourite doneness.
  • Serve on hamburger buns with Chimichurri sauce, avocado slices, red onion slices and tomatoes.
  • For best results form a divot in the center of each burger before cooking, this helps them cook evenly. Also never press on a burger while it cooks, you'll get some flame and smoke but only at the expense of losing juice that belongs in the burger.
  • Chimichurri Sauce:.
  • Whisk everything together.
  • You may serve immediately but this condiment is at its best after a day or two of refrigeration.

MINI DOMINICAN CHIMICHURRI BURGERS

Mini Dominican Chimichurri Burgers image

I love the simplicity of this dish and the wonderful combo of flavors: tasty burgers, melting Queso Blanco cheese, avocado, tomato, wilted slaw and flavored mayo! It's a Dominican twist on chimichurri mixed into mini burgers as shared by Deidre Pujols, wife of St. Louis Cardinal slugger Albert Pujols, with our local Dierbergs supermarket. This recipe is packed with lively, not too spicy flavors typical of Dominican food. I've posted it exactly as it was published, but you could add a finely shredded carrot to the slaw, minced garlic to the burger mix and mustard to the mayo. I think these would be great with fresh slaw, too.

Categories     Meat

Time 20m

Yield 12 mini burgers

Number Of Ingredients 15

1 (10 ounce) package angel hair coleslaw mix (or 3 cups finely shredded cabbage)
1 lb beef ground round
1 large egg, lightly beaten
1/4 cup chopped fresh cilantro
1/4 cup finely chopped onion
1 teaspoon chili powder
1 teaspoon ground cumin
1 teaspoon seasoning salt
2 teaspoons fresh lime juice
1/4 cup ketchup
1/4 cup mayonnaise
12 dollar rolls, split (mini dinner rolls)
1 avocado, pitted, peeled and sliced
12 slices tomatoes
1 (14 ounce) round chihuahua queso blanco cheese, sliced (sub Monterey Jack in a pinch)

Steps:

  • Heat grill to medium high.
  • Bring a large pot of water to a boil over medium high heat.
  • Add cabbage, immediately remove from heat and let stand 5 minutes.
  • Drain well and set aside.
  • Crumble beef into a large mixing bowl.
  • Add egg, cilantro, onion, chili powder, cumin, seasoned salt and lime juice; mix until combined.
  • Shape mixture into 12 small patties.
  • Place on grid over medium high heat; cover and grill until internal temperature is 165 degrees Fahrenheit, about 2-3 minutes per side.
  • In a small bowl stir ketchup and mayonnaise until well mixed.
  • Spread cut sides of rolls with ketchup mixture.
  • Place hot burgers on bottom half of each roll, top with cheese, avocado, tomato, cabbage and top half of roll.

Tips:

  • Use fresh, high-quality ingredients: The better the ingredients, the better the burgers will be. Look for fresh ground beef, ripe tomatoes, and crisp lettuce.
  • Season the beef patties generously: Don't be afraid to use plenty of salt, pepper, and garlic powder. This will help to give the burgers great flavor.
  • Cook the burgers over medium heat: This will help to prevent them from drying out. Cook the burgers for about 4-5 minutes per side, or until they are cooked to your desired doneness.
  • Toast the buns: Toasted buns will help to hold the burgers together better. Toast the buns in a toaster or on a grill.
  • Load up the burgers with your favorite toppings: Some popular toppings include lettuce, tomato, onion, cheese, bacon, and avocado. Get creative and try different combinations to find your perfect burger.

Conclusion:

Chimichurri burgers are a delicious and easy-to-make meal that is perfect for any occasion. With just a few simple ingredients, you can create a burger that is juicy, flavorful, and sure to please everyone at the table. So next time you're looking for a quick and easy meal, give chimichurri burgers a try. You won't be disappointed.
