Tips:

  • Select the right potatoes: Yukon Gold or Russet potatoes are ideal for scalloped potatoes due to their creamy texture and ability to hold their shape well.
  • Slice the potatoes evenly: Consistent slicing ensures even cooking and a more visually appealing dish.
  • Use a sharp knife: A sharp knife will make slicing the potatoes easier and result in cleaner cuts.
  • Don't overcrowd the pan: Overcrowding the pan will prevent the potatoes from cooking evenly and may result in a soggy dish.
  • Layer the potatoes and sauce evenly: Ensure each layer of potatoes is evenly coated with the sauce to achieve a consistent flavor and texture throughout the dish.
  • Bake until golden brown: The scalloped potatoes are done baking when the top is golden brown and the potatoes are tender when pierced with a fork.
