CHEESE SQUARES APPETIZER

Cheese Squares Appetizer image

This is a wonderful baked appetizer blending the tastes of Cheddar cheese and jalapeno peppers. The amount of jalapenos used can easily be adjusted to personal taste, although baking does take a lot of the burn out of the peppers. I've made this several times and I never have leftovers. My husband wishes I would make these for him every day. I don't recommend doubling the recipe; make multiple batches instead.

CHEESY DAPPER APPLE SQUARES

Cheesy Dapper Apple Squares image

This recipe was a winner of the Pillsbury Bake-Off contest many years ago, I've been making this recipe for the past 20 years, it's a very easy recipe and I have never met anyone who doesn't like it, and it has remained a family favorite! I make it using grated cheddar in place of the slices, and I always increase the amount of cheese slightly, I also add in a small amount of cinnamon to the crust.

Tips:

  • Prep Your Ingredients: Before you start baking, wash, peel, and cut the apples. Measure out all the other ingredients and preheat your oven to the specified temperature.
  • Use Quality Ingredients: The better the quality of your ingredients, the better your cheese apple squares will turn out. Use fresh, ripe apples and high-quality cheese.
  • Don't Overwork the Dough: When making the crust, be careful not to overwork the dough. Overworking the dough will make it tough and dry.
  • Chill the Dough: Before rolling out the dough, chill it for at least 30 minutes. This will make it easier to work with and will prevent it from shrinking too much in the oven.
  • Don't Overcrowd the Pan: When placing the cheese apple squares in the baking pan, make sure to leave some space between them. Overcrowding the pan will prevent the squares from cooking evenly.
  • Bake Until Golden Brown: Bake the cheese apple squares until the crust is golden brown and the apples are tender. The baking time may vary depending on your oven, so keep an eye on them.

Conclusion:

Cheese apple squares are a delicious and easy-to-make treat that are perfect for any occasion. With a flaky crust, sweet and tangy apples, and a creamy cheese filling, these squares are sure to be a hit. Whether you're serving them for breakfast, lunch, or dessert, they're sure to be enjoyed by everyone.
