1 3/4 cups oatmeal
1 1/2 cups flour
3/4 cup brown sugar, packed
1/2 teaspoon baking soda
1/4 teaspoon salt
3/4 cup margarine, melted
1 cup nuts, chopped
1 (6 ounce) package chocolate chips (1 cup)
1 (14 ounce) bag vanilla caramels
1/4 cup water

Steps:

  • Heat oven to 350°F Grease 9x13 pan.
  • Combine first 5 ingredients.
  • Add margarine and mix until crumbly.Reserve 1 C of mixture for topping.
  • Press remaining mixture onto bottom of prepared pan.
  • Bake 10 minutes. Cool.
  • Top with nuts, then chocolate chips.
  • In medium saucepan, melt caramels with the water over low heat. Stir until Smooth.
  • Remove from heat.
  • Drizzle caramel over chocolate pcs to within 1/4" of pan edge.
  • Sprinkle with reserved oat mixture.
  • Continue baking 15-18 minutes. Cool.
  • Chil until chocolate is set. Cut into bars.

1 3/4 c oats, uncooked
1 1/2 c all purpose flour
3/4 c brown sugar, firmly packed
1/2 tsp baking soda
1 c peanuts, chopped
1/4 tsp salt, optional
3/4 c butter, melted
1 c semi-sweet chocolate chips
12 1/ oz caramel ice cream topping
1/4 c all purpose flour

Steps:

  • 1. Heat oven to 350 degrees; grease 13x9-inch baking pan.
  • 2. Combine oats, flour, brown sugar, soda and salt; mix well.
  • 3. Stir in butter, mixing well until blended.
  • 4. Reserve 1 cup; press remaining onto bottom of prepared pan.
  • 5. Bake 10 to 12 minutes or until light brown; cool 10 minutes.
  • 6. Top with nuts and chocolate pieces.
  • 7. Mix caramel topping and 1/4 cup flour until smooth; drizzle over chocolate pieces to within 1/4-inch of pan edges.
  • 8. Sprinkle with reserved oat mixture; bake an additional 18 to 22 minutes or until golden brown.
  • 9. Cool; chill until set.
