Yield Makes about 2 cups

Number Of Ingredients 10

4 tablespoons paprika
3 tablespoons dried granulated onion
3 tablespoons dried granulated garlic
1/4 cup cayenne pepper
2 tablespoons white pepper
3 tablespoons finely ground black pepper
1 1/2 tablespoons ground thyme
1 1/2 tablespoons ground oregano
2 tablespoons ground New Mexican chile
1 tablespoon ground chipotle chile

Steps:

  • Combine the paprika, onion, garlic, cayenne, white pepper, black pepper, thyme, oregano, New Mexican chile, and chipotle chile in a bowl. Store in a covered container for at least 6 months.

Tips:

  • Use the freshest spices possible. Stale spices will not have as much flavor and can even be bitter.
  • Toast your spices before using them. This will bring out their flavor and aroma.
  • Experiment with different proportions of spices. There is no right or wrong way to make Cajun or blackening seasoning, so feel free to adjust the ingredients to your taste.
  • Use a spice grinder to grind your own spices. This will give you the freshest and most flavorful spices.
  • Store your spices in a cool, dark place. This will help them retain their flavor and aroma.

Conclusion:

Cajun and blackening seasoning are two versatile and flavorful spice blends that can be used to add a kick to any dish. Whether you're making a traditional Cajun dish or simply want to add some spice to your next grilled meal, these spice blends are sure to please. So next time you're looking for a way to add some flavor to your food, reach for Cajun or blackening seasoning.
