CHEF JOHN'S BUTTERMILK BISCUITS
This deceptively simple recipe can come out a million different ways with some very minor variations on the ingredients and amounts. This one's my favorite - flaky, but not dry; chewy, but not tough; crisp in just the right spots.

Tips:
- Choose the Right Ingredients: Ensure your butter is cold and of good quality; this will create flakier biscuits. Fresh garlic and herbs will add the most flavor. Use self-rising flour, so you don't need to add baking powder or baking soda.
- Laminate the Dough: This technique creates flaky layers in the biscuits. Fold the dough in thirds, then turn it 90 degrees and fold again. Repeat this process twice more, wrapping the dough in plastic wrap, and chilling for at least 30 minutes before rolling and cutting.
- Cut the Biscuits Evenly: Use a sharp knife or biscuit cutter to ensure biscuits are uniform in size. This will help them bake evenly.
- Bake at a High Temperature: A hot oven (450°F) will help the biscuits rise quickly, creating a golden brown crust.
- Brush with Garlic Butter: Before baking, brush the tops of the biscuits with melted garlic butter. This will enhance their flavor and give them a beautiful golden color.
- Serve Warm: Buttery golden garlic biscuits are best served warm out of the oven. Enjoy them with honey, jam, or your favorite spread.
Conclusion:
Buttery golden garlic biscuits are a delightful treat that combines the flavors of garlic, butter, and herbs. By following these tips, you can create flaky, flavorful biscuits that are perfect for any occasion. Whether you're enjoying them for breakfast, lunch, or dinner, these biscuits are sure to be a hit. So, gather your ingredients, preheat your oven, and let's get baking!
