BUBBLE GUM

Bubble Gum image

This is one recipe I have not tried yet,I have future plans to make this with my Grandkids, but just have not had the opportunity yet. It came from a church youth group cookbook. I will only be guesstimating on the time and the amounts. UPDATE: I had a comment from a reader of this recipe, she wanted to know where she could buy "CHICKLE" I had never made this recipe, so I did not know. Since I really did want to make this recipe with my grandkids, I decided now was a good time to get the ingredient chickle for this recipe, so I went to ALL of the BIG grocery chains around southern Illinois, but they mostly didn't have a clue what it was or where I could get it. So my next step was to go online. The gum people I finally connected with and got an answer from says they cannot order this product because they have no call for it and would have to order large quantities of it and would not be able to get rid of it. They did say that there are some toy stores that have bubble gum making kits such as TOYS-R-US, and some of the other big toy stores. So, if you want to make gum with the grandkids, I guess you will have to visit the toy store because the ingredient "CHICKLE" is no longer available in the supermarkets. I am sincere!

STRANGER THINGS STRAWBERRY BUBBLE GUM

Stranger Things Strawberry Bubble Gum image

Give your Valentine a taste of Dustin's must have snack: bubble gum. Printable candy carton templates can be found at: http://www.food.com/article/stranger-things-valentines-day-306

Provided by ChristineMcConnell

Categories     Dessert

Time 31m

Yield 30 bubble gum pieces

Number Of Ingredients 5

2 teaspoons Kool-Aid, powder
1 tablespoon corn syrup
3 tablespoons xanthan gum, can be ordered online (gum base)
3/4 cup icing sugar
use Stranger Things Candy Carton Assembly to gift your chewing gum

Steps:

  • In a large microwave-safe bowl, add gum base, Kool-Aid and corn syrup. Microwave for 30 seconds and mix. Microwave an additional 30 seconds and mix again.
  • Create a pile of sugar on a non-stick surface and funnel out the center with your hand. Pour in the (very hot) gum mixture and begin to mix in sugar as it cools. Mix and twist your gum over and over until most of the sugar is incorporated. The longer you do this the chewier your gum will be. Roll out in 1/2-inch thickness and using a pizza or pastry cutter, cut into desired shape. Lightly toss in a bit of icing sugar before placing in your Valentine candy carton (recipe #530168).

Tips:

  • To achieve the perfect bubble gum flavor, use high-quality bubble gum extract. This will give your bubble gum a strong, authentic flavor.
  • If you don't have bubble gum extract, you can use a combination of vanilla extract and almond extract. This will give your bubble gum a similar flavor, but it won't be as strong.
  • For a softer, chewier bubble gum, use more corn syrup. For a harder, more brittle bubble gum, use less corn syrup.
  • You can add food coloring to your bubble gum to give it any color you want. Just be sure to use a food coloring that is oil-based, as water-based food coloring will not mix well with the corn syrup.
  • If you want to make your bubble gum extra chewy, add a marshmallow or two to the recipe. This will give your bubble gum a soft, gooey texture.
  • To store your bubble gum, wrap it in plastic wrap and place it in an airtight container. It will keep for up to 2 weeks at room temperature.

Conclusion:

Making bubble gum at home is a fun and easy way to enjoy your favorite candy. With just a few simple ingredients, you can create delicious bubble gum that is sure to please everyone. So next time you have a hankering for bubble gum, give this recipe a try. You won't be disappointed!
