Provided by Leslie in Texas

Categories     Fruit

Time 40m

Yield 4 serving(s)

Number Of Ingredients 5

4 cups raw pecan halves
1/4 cup unsalted butter, melted
1 1/2 tablespoons chili powder
1/2 teaspoon cayenne pepper (optional)
1/2 cup firmly packed light brown sugar

Steps:

  • Preheat oven to 350 degrees.
  • Line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
  • Place pecans and melted butter in a large bowl and toss until nuts are well-coated.
  • Add remaining ingredients and toss again.
  • Transfer to prepared baking sheet and arrange in a single layer.
  • Bake until lightly browned, about 20 minutes.
  • Remove from oven, immediately loosen nuts with a metal spatula and set aside to cool before serving or placing in gift containers.
  • Makes 4 cups.

Tips:

  • Choose the right chili powder: Use a good quality chili powder that is not too old. Fresh chili powder will have a brighter red color and more flavor.
  • Use a variety of beans: This will give your chili a more complex flavor and texture. Some good options include kidney beans, black beans, and pinto beans.
  • Don't be afraid to experiment with different ingredients: There are many different ways to make chili, so feel free to add your own personal touches. Some popular additions include corn, tomatoes, bell peppers, and cheese.
  • Let the chili simmer for a long time: This will allow the flavors to develop and deepen. The longer you simmer the chili, the better it will be.
  • Serve the chili with your favorite toppings: Some popular options include sour cream, shredded cheese, and chopped onions.

Conclusion:

Brown sugar chili is a delicious and easy-to-make dish that is perfect for a cold winter day. It is also a very versatile dish that can be customized to your own liking. So next time you are looking for a hearty and flavorful meal, give brown sugar chili a try. You won't be disappointed!
