Tips:

  • Prep Ahead: For a quick and easy morning, prepare the casserole the night before and refrigerate it overnight. In the morning, simply pop it in the oven and bake.
  • Use Fresh Broccoli: Fresh broccoli florets yield the best flavor and texture in this dish. If using frozen broccoli, thaw and drain it thoroughly before adding it to the casserole.
  • Choose a Sharp Cheddar Cheese: A sharp cheddar cheese will provide a bold and flavorful taste to the casserole. If you prefer a milder flavor, use a mild or medium cheddar cheese.
  • Add Some Herbs: Fresh herbs like thyme, rosemary, or oregano can add a pop of flavor to the casserole. Stir them in with the broccoli and cheese before baking.
  • Don't Overmix: Overmixing the batter can result in a tough and dense casserole. Mix just until the ingredients are combined.
  • Let it Rest: Allow the casserole to rest for a few minutes before serving. This will help it set and make it easier to slice.

Conclusion:

This hearty and flavorful broccoli cheddar brunch bake is a perfect dish for a weekend brunch or a special occasion breakfast. It's easy to make, can be prepared ahead of time, and is sure to be a hit with everyone at the table.
