Time 1h10m

Number Of Ingredients 5

2- 10 oz boxes chopped frozen broccoli
2-10 oz boxes chopped frozen spinach
1 envelope french onion soup dry mix
2 c sour cream
8 oz medium cheddar cheese , grated

Steps:

  • 1. Thaw out spinach and broccoli. Squeeze out excess liquid.
  • 2. Add sour cream and French onion soup mix. Stir to mix.
  • 3. Place in casserole dish.
  • 4. Bake at 350 degrees for 30 minutes. Remove from oven and place grated cheese on top of casserole. Return to oven until cheese melts.

Tips:

  • Select fresh, vibrant broccoli and spinach: Look for broccoli florets that are deep green and tightly closed. Choose spinach leaves that are also deep green and free of blemishes.
  • Prepare your vegetables properly: Cut the broccoli into small florets and wash both the broccoli and spinach thoroughly. Blanching the broccoli and spinach helps retain their vibrant color and nutrients.
  • Use a variety of cheeses: The combination of cheddar, cream cheese, and Parmesan in this recipe creates a rich and flavorful sauce. You can also experiment with other types of cheese, such as Gruyère or Gouda.
  • Don't overcook the casserole: The broccoli and spinach should still be slightly tender when the casserole is finished. Overcooking will make the vegetables mushy.
  • Serve the casserole immediately: This dish is best enjoyed fresh out of the oven. You can also make it ahead of time and reheat it before serving.

Conclusion:

This broccoli and spinach casserole is a delicious and nutritious dish that is perfect for any occasion. It is easy to make and can be customized to your liking.
