Time 55m

Yield 8 serving(s)

Number Of Ingredients 13

2 eggs
1/2 cup sugar
1/2 cup sour cream
1 cup milk
1/2 teaspoon cinnamon
1/4 teaspoon salt
1/3 cup raisins
1 apple, peeled cored and chopped
3 cups cooked long-grain rice
1/4 cup firmly packed brown sugar
1 tablespoon all-purpose flour
1/4 teaspoon cinnamon
1 tablespoon butter or 1 tablespoon margarine, melted

Steps:

  • Preheat oven to 350 degrees.
  • Combine eggs, sugar, sour cream, milk, cinnamon and salt.
  • Stir in raisins, apple and rice; spoon mixture into greased baking dish.
  • Combine brown sugar, flour, cinnamon and butter, sprinkle over rice mixture.
  • Bake uncovered 45 minutes.
  • Serves 8.

Tips:

  • Choose the right rice. Short-grain rice, such as Arborio or Carnaroli, is best for rice pudding because it absorbs liquid well and becomes creamy when cooked.
  • Cook the rice properly. Be sure to cook the rice according to the package directions. If you overcook the rice, it will become mushy.
  • Use full-fat milk. Full-fat milk will give the rice pudding a richer flavor and texture. You can also use a combination of milk and cream for an even richer pudding.
  • Add flavorings. You can add a variety of flavorings to your rice pudding, such as vanilla extract, cinnamon, nutmeg, or ginger. You can also add fresh or dried fruit, nuts, or chocolate chips.
  • Cook the rice pudding slowly. Rice pudding should be cooked slowly over low heat. This will help the flavors to develop and the rice to become creamy.
  • Let the rice pudding cool before serving. Rice pudding is best served cold or at room temperature. This will allow the flavors to meld and the pudding to thicken.

Conclusion:

Rice pudding is a delicious and versatile dessert that can be enjoyed for breakfast, lunch, or dinner. It is a great way to use up leftover rice, and it can be made with a variety of flavorings and toppings. Whether you like it simple or fancy, there is a rice pudding recipe out there for everyone.
