Tips:

  • Choose the right cake mix. For a moist and flavorful cake, use a chocolate or spice cake mix. For a lighter cake, use a white or vanilla cake mix.
  • Use canned pumpkin puree, not pumpkin pie filling. Pumpkin puree is unsweetened and has a more natural flavor than pumpkin pie filling.
  • Add spices to the cake batter. Pumpkin spice, cinnamon, nutmeg, and ginger are all classic spices that complement the flavor of pumpkin.
  • Don't overmix the batter. Overmixing can make the cake tough. Mix just until the ingredients are combined.
  • Bake the cake at the correct temperature. The cake should be baked at 350 degrees Fahrenheit for 30-35 minutes.
  • Let the cake cool completely before frosting it. This will help the frosting to set properly.
  • Decorate the cake as desired. Pumpkin cake can be decorated with cream cheese frosting, whipped cream, or even a simple dusting of powdered sugar.

Conclusion:

Box cake mix and canned pumpkin are two pantry staples that can be used to make a delicious and easy pumpkin cake. With a few simple tips, you can create a moist and flavorful cake that is perfect for fall gatherings. So next time you're looking for a quick and easy dessert, reach for a box of cake mix and a can of pumpkin puree. You won't be disappointed!
