This is one of our favorite cold pasta salad recipes. I first tried it at a family reunion, and it's become one of my husband's favorite dinners. Sometimes, we leave out the chicken and serve it as a side dish instead. -Jennifer Madsen, Rexburg, Idaho

Tips:
- Choose the right pasta. Bow-tie pasta is a great choice for this salad because it holds the sauce well and is easy to eat. You can also use other short pastas, such as penne or fusilli.
- Cook the pasta al dente. This means that the pasta should be cooked until it is still slightly firm to the bite. Overcooked pasta will become mushy and will not hold the sauce well.
- Use fresh, seasonal ingredients. The best melon for this salad is a ripe cantaloupe or honeydew melon. You can also use other fruits, such as strawberries, blueberries, or peaches.
- Make the dressing ahead of time. This will allow the flavors to meld and develop. You can store the dressing in the refrigerator for up to 3 days.
- Toss the salad gently. This will prevent the pasta and melon from breaking apart.
- Serve the salad immediately. This salad is best enjoyed fresh.
Conclusion:
This bow-tie pasta salad with fontina and melon is a delicious and refreshing summer dish. It is easy to make and is perfect for a potluck or picnic. The combination of sweet melon, salty fontina cheese, and tangy dressing is sure to please everyone.
