Tips:

  • Choose high-quality ground beef. The better the quality of the beef, the tastier the meatballs will be. Look for ground beef that is at least 80% lean.
  • Soak the bread in milk. This will help to keep the meatballs moist and tender. You can use any type of bread, but white bread or a French baguette works well.
  • Use a variety of herbs and spices. This will give the meatballs a complex flavor. Some good options include parsley, thyme, rosemary, garlic, and onion.
  • Don't overmix the meatball mixture. Overmixing can make the meatballs tough. Mix the ingredients just until they are combined.
  • Brown the meatballs in a skillet before simmering them. This will help to seal in the flavor and give the meatballs a nice crust.
  • Use a good quality broth. The broth you use will flavor the meatballs, so choose one that you like the taste of. Chicken broth, beef broth, or vegetable broth are all good options.
  • Simmer the meatballs for at least 30 minutes. This will help to tenderize the meatballs and allow the flavors to meld together.
  • Serve the meatballs with your favorite sides. Mashed potatoes, roasted vegetables, or a salad are all good options.

Conclusion:

Boulets Liégeois are a delicious and hearty dish that is perfect for a special occasion or a weeknight meal. They are easy to make and can be tailored to your own taste preferences. So next time you're looking for a new recipe to try, give Boulets Liégeois a try. You won't be disappointed!
