Time 45m

Number Of Ingredients 7

1 1/2 c butter, softened
1 c packed brown sugar
1 tsp baking powder
1 large egg
1 tsp vanilla extract
1/2 tsp almond extract
3 1/2 c all purpose flour

Steps:

  • 1. Preheat oven to 375 degrees F. In a large mixing bowl, beat butter with an electric mixer on medium to high speed for 30 seconds. Add brown sugar and baking powder. Beat until combined, scraping bowl occasionally. Beat in egg, vanilla, and almond extract until combined. Beat in as much of the flour as you can with the mixer. Stir in any remaining flour.
  • 2. Force unchilled dough through a cookie press fitted with a star or flower disk onto an ungreased cookie sheet. Bake in the preheated oven for 7 to 9 minutes or until edges are lightly browned. Transfer to a wire rack and let cool.

Tips:

  • Use high-quality butter: This will result in a more flavorful and rich cookie.
  • Cream the butter and sugar together until light and fluffy: This will help to incorporate air into the dough, resulting in a more tender cookie.
  • Chill the dough for at least 30 minutes before baking: This will help to prevent the cookies from spreading too much in the oven.
  • Bake the cookies until the edges are just beginning to brown: This will ensure that the cookies are cooked through but still soft and chewy.
  • Let the cookies cool on a wire rack before serving: This will help to prevent them from sticking together.

Conclusion:

Spritz cookies are a delicious and easy-to-make treat that are perfect for any occasion. With a variety of flavors and decorating options, there is sure to be a spritz cookie that everyone will enjoy.
