1 medium onion, chopped
2 tablespoons flour
14 ounces beef broth (1 can)
1 can cream of mushroom with roasted garlic soup
2 tablespoons worcestershire
1 teaspoon pepper
1/4 teaspoon salt
1/4 teaspoon paprika
6 cups uncooked egg noodles
1 cup sour cream
2 teaspoon horseradish
1/2 cup white cheddar, shredded

Steps:

  • In a large skillet over medium heat, cook the beef, bacon, mushrooms and onion until beef is no longer pink. Add garlic; cook 1 minute longer. Drain. Stir in flour until blended. Add the broth, soup, Worcestershire sauce, pepper, salt and paprika. Bring to a boil. Reduce heat; simmer, uncovered, for 10-15 minutes, stirring occasionally.
  • Meanwhile, cook noodles according to package directions; drain.
  • Stir sour cream and horseradish into beef mixture; heat through (do not boil). Serve with noodles. Sprinkle with cheese.

Tips:

  • For the best results, use a good quality beef broth. You can make your own or use a store-bought brand.
  • If you don't have dry mustard, you can substitute prepared mustard. Just be sure to use a mild variety, as you don't want to overpower the other flavors in the dish.
  • If you don't have Worcestershire sauce, you can substitute soy sauce or tamari. However, Worcestershire sauce does have a unique flavor that really adds to the dish, so if you can find it, it's worth using.
  • Be sure to cook the beef until it is tender. This will help to ensure that the stroganoff is creamy and flavorful.
  • If you want a thicker stroganoff, you can add a cornstarch slurry. To make a cornstarch slurry, mix equal parts cornstarch and water until smooth. Then, add it to the stroganoff and cook over medium heat, stirring constantly, until the sauce has thickened.
  • Serve the stroganoff over egg noodles, mashed potatoes, or rice.

Conclusion:

Beef Bacon Stroganoff is a classic dish that is easy to make and always a hit with the family. The combination of tender beef, creamy sauce, and flavorful bacon is sure to please everyone at the table. Plus, it's a great way to use up leftover beef roast or steak.
