CROCK POT BAKED HAM

Crock Pot Baked Ham image

A friend of mine (Johnny O) gave me his recipe for this mustard glaze. He always makes the ham for a senior citizen Christmas "Feed" that we do every year at Christmas. There is never any ham left and everyone raves about this mustard glaze on the ham.

Provided by Jeanne Benavidez

Categories     Pork

Time 8h5m

Number Of Ingredients 6

1 8 - 10 lb fully cooked spiral cut ham
1/2 c water
GLAZE:
2 c brown sugar, packed
1 c plain yellow mustard
1 small can crushed pineapple, undrained

Steps:

  • 1. Pour water in Crock-Pot.
  • 2. Place the ham, flat side down, onto enough foil to completely wrap it.
  • 3. Spread the glaze over the ham. Separate the slices a little so the glaze can seep down between them. This should be a rather thick glaze so it will stay on the ham fairly well.
  • 4. Wrap the foil around the ham and place it in the Crock-Pot.
  • 5. Cover and cook on High 1 hour, then Low 6 to 8 hours or until the ham is hot.

Time 8m

Yield 8 serving(s)

Number Of Ingredients 2

3 -4 lbs precooked ham
1/2 cup water

Steps:

  • Pour 1/2 cup water in crockpot.
  • Wrap precooked 3 to 4 pound ham in foil and place in crockpot.
  • Cover and cook on high 1 hour, then low 6 to 7 hours or until ham is hot.

Tips:

  • Choose the right ham: Select a fully cooked ham for the best results. Look for a ham with a bone-in for added flavor and moisture.
  • Prepare the ham: Remove the ham from the packaging and rinse it under cold water. Pat the ham dry with paper towels.
  • Score the ham: Use a sharp knife to score the ham in a diamond pattern. This will help the glaze penetrate the ham and create a crispy, flavorful crust.
  • Make the glaze: Combine brown sugar, pineapple juice, honey, Dijon mustard, and cloves in a bowl. Stir until well combined.
  • Glaze the ham: Brush the ham with the glaze, making sure to coat it evenly. Cover the ham and refrigerate it for at least 30 minutes, or up to overnight.
  • Cook the ham: Place the ham in the slow cooker. Add 1 cup of water to the bottom of the slow cooker. Cover and cook on low for 6-8 hours, or until the internal temperature of the ham reaches 140 degrees Fahrenheit.
  • Serve the ham: Remove the ham from the slow cooker and let it rest for 10 minutes before carving. Serve the ham with your favorite sides, such as mashed potatoes, roasted vegetables, and cranberry sauce.
